Most running coaches are online. Most running plans are generic. I do things differently: your training plan lives in the portal and is loaded into TrainingPeaks so it syncs straight to your Garmin, but once a month we meet for coffee on Kedron Brook, go through your progress, and make sure the work is actually working.
With a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology and a Bachelor of Education, every program I write is grounded in science and delivered with the clarity of someone who knows how to teach.
Bachelor of Exercise Physiology: understanding how your body responds to training load, not just km on a watch
Bachelor of Education: coaching that is clear, structured, and actually transferable to race day
Athletics Australia Accredited Coach: the standard clubs and serious runners expect

Results
The work is just getting started.
Groundwork is brand new. There are no reviews here yet because I haven't earned them yet. That changes the moment the first group crosses a finish line.
If you're a founding client, you'll be the ones whose words go here. Honest reviews for an honest discount. Check back after the GC Marathon.
Here is exactly what signing up with Groundwork looks like, from the moment you fill in the form to the moment you cross a finish line. No surprises.
Phase 1
Getting started
Fill in the enquiry form. Takes two minutes. I ask about your current running, your goals, and which program suits you.
I reply within 24 hours to confirm your founding spot and send a Stripe payment link to lock in your rate.
Once payment is confirmed you receive access to the client portal and the full intake form.
The intake form covers your injury history, training background, race goals, lifestyle, and how your Garmin is set up. This is where I build your plan from.
Set up TrainingPeaks with a free account and connect your Garmin. Takes ten minutes. There is a setup guide in the portal.
Phase 2
Inside your program
Each week I load your plan into TrainingPeaks. Your Garmin automatically receives every session as a structured workout.
Your watch tells you what to do. Target pace, target heart rate, distance, recovery intervals. You run, it tracks.
Log how each session felt in the portal. That data feeds into how I adjust your plan week to week.
Once a month, we meet for coffee at Grid Espresso on Kedron Brook. We go through your numbers, how you're feeling, and make sure the plan is working for your life, not against it.
Plans adapt. Life happens. If a week goes sideways, I adjust. Nothing is set and forget.
Phase 3
Race day
Taper week is planned from the start. You do not guess how much to back off. It is built into the program and your Garmin knows.
Race strategy is yours specifically. Target splits, fuelling timing, what to do if it gets hard at kilometre 32. We cover it all before you arrive at the start line.
I race the same events. If you are running GC Marathon or Bridge to Brisbane, I am on the same course. You are not alone out there.
Post-race debrief. We sit down and go through what happened, what worked, and what your next goal is. The groundwork never really stops.
The weekly rhythm
Monday
Your new week loads in TrainingPeaks and pushes to your Garmin overnight. You wake up knowing exactly what the week looks like.
Mon to Sat
Run your sessions. Your Garmin guides the effort. Log how each one felt in the portal when you're done.
Saturday
Kedron parkrun. Most programs include it. Run with the community, get a timed 5km, then coffee at Grid Espresso.
Sunday
The long run. The most important session of the week. Easy, steady, and longer than anything mid-week. This is where the marathon is built.
Common questions
Do I need a Garmin watch? +
A Garmin is strongly recommended — it is how your plan gets to you automatically each week via TrainingPeaks. That said, if you have a different GPS watch we can work with it. If you have no watch at all, we can still make it work with a phone and manual logging, but a Garmin makes everything significantly smoother.
Do I need to be near Kedron Brook? +
For cohort programs and group sessions, being in north Brisbane makes most sense — sessions run on and around Kedron Brook. For personal coaching, if you are elsewhere in Brisbane or on the Gold Coast, your plan is fully digital and the monthly catch-up can be adjusted. I am happy to discuss what works for your situation.
What if I get injured during the program? +
This is exactly where the exercise physiology background matters. I will not just tell you to rest. We will work out what you can still do safely, modify your program, and — where needed — I will refer you to a physio I trust. Injury management is part of coaching, not a reason to pause it.
What is TrainingPeaks and is it free? +
TrainingPeaks is a training platform used by coaches and athletes worldwide. The athlete account you need is free. I use the Coach Edition to load your plan and push it to you each week. Once you connect your free account to your Garmin, your sessions arrive on your watch automatically every Monday.
What does the monthly coffee catch-up actually involve? +
We sit down at Grid Espresso on Shaw Rd in Wavell Heights — right on Kedron Brook — for about 45 minutes. I pull up your TrainingPeaks data, we go through your last four weeks, you tell me how you have been feeling, and we make any adjustments needed for the next block. It is informal, honest, and useful. Most athletes find it the most valuable part of the whole program.
Can I do this if I have never run before? +
Yes. I coach runners from absolute beginners to experienced marathoners. If you have never run before, we start where you are. A 5km or a Bridge to Brisbane finish line is just as meaningful as a marathon — and in some cases harder, because you are building from nothing. Being a beginner is not a barrier. It is a starting point.
How are founding client rates different from normal pricing? +
Founding rates are 60 to 70 percent below what programs will cost once spots are filled. In exchange, I ask for honest feedback during the program and a genuine written review once we have finished. Your rate is locked in permanently — you will never pay the higher price as long as you stay with Groundwork. There are a limited number of spots and they will not be replaced once taken.
What happens after my program ends? +
That is entirely up to you. Some athletes move straight into a new program or a different race goal. Others take a recovery block and return. Personal coaching clients continue on a rolling basis. There is no pressure either way — but most people find they want to keep going once they have crossed their first finish line.
Log in to access your personalised training program, open this week's plan in TrainingPeaks to sync to your Garmin, and track your progress toward race day. Your monthly coffee catch-up on Kedron Brook is booked in here too.
